Frisian Sea
About Frisian Sea
Frisian Sea is a free strategy game in your browser, set on the coast of the North Sea in the early Middle Ages. You build a village on a mound, send your people out into the land and defend what is yours, against the computer or against other players.
In those days the North Sea was called Mare Frisicum: the Frisian Sea. The Frisians lived on terps, high mounds of clay and dung that kept them dry when the water came, and their ships sailed from Dorestad to London and from the Wadden to Ribe, heavy with cloth, salt and wine. Whoever ruled that sea was rich.
And what is rich is coveted. From the south the Franks pushed north, with the cross before them and a king who wanted the whole world. In the forests to the east the Saxons bowed to no king and to no gods but their own. And in the north, behind a wall of earth, the Danes counted the ships that sailed past. Each people plays differently, and you can read their story in The story.
There is nothing to install. A game against the computer starts straight away, without an account, and takes twenty minutes to half an hour. If you want to play together, join an open room in the lobby, or make one yourself.
Everyone plays the same game. Nothing in the game is for sale that makes you stronger, and that will stay true.
Frisian Sea is in beta. New things arrive regularly: what is new is in What's new, and what is still to come in Planned. If you see a bug, report it via Report a bug.
Frisian Sea is made by Rutger Daling. Want to ask something, say something about the game, or just say hello? Mail [email protected].
