Four levels of the computer
You play the computer at four levels: Farmhand, Farmer, Chieftain and King. Start with Farmhand and work your way up. Up to and including Chieftain, the computer responds faster and uses more of the game with every step. King does even more in a fight.
-
Farmhand
Builds a village and attacks late and carefully. For your first games.
It takes its time to respond, so you can calmly learn how a game goes.
-
Farmer
Plays a whole game at a calm pace and defends its village.
The start screen selects Farmer at first, and in Quick play the computer plays as Farmer.
-
Chieftain
Plays with ages, technologies, walls and the sea.
Chieftain plays the way the computer played before there were levels. If someone drops out of a game online for two minutes, the computer plays their village as Chieftain until they are back.
-
King
Everything the computer can do: pace, sallies, rams and the sea.
Chieftain and King pick their own approach every game: early attack, grow first or at sea. Which one, you only find out when you go scouting; afterwards the end screen shows it.
How to choose
-
1. Against the computer
A new game against the computer begins with a start screen: choose your people and the computer's level, and click Start. Your last choice is already selected, and your browser remembers it. During a game you can also change it in the menu, at The computer in a new game; that counts from the next game.
-
2. In a new room
Under How strong does the computer play? pick one of the four. That is how strong the computer plays in every slot nobody takes.
-
3. In the waiting room
The host picks for each empty slot how strong the computer plays there.
-
4. Another game against ...
Win a game against the computer, and the end screen has the button Another game against, with the next level up. That is how you climb to King.
